Three rows of higher-gauge coils are used for the perimeter to help bolster the edge of the mattress when you put weight on it. This structure also helps reduce rolling off of the mattress and therefore increases the usable sleeping surface. The third layer of soft foam cushions the body in its most sensitive areas, like pressure points. The foam helps contour to provide support where you need it, and comfort where you want it.
